Objectives:

This is a 6-month pilot project that was closed last November, but due to the fact that some extra funds from the project have been used, it has been able to run until February. In this way and since February 2024 the activities of the evangelisation project are continuing with the project that the PARENTES FOUNDATION approved for this year.
The main objective is to increase the educational level and the Catholic spiritual and human formation of about 4,700 children and young people in 11 schools.

Activities carried out:

1.Formative and Organizational Meetings
Several meetings were held with catechists and volunteers to plan project activities, including talks, catechesis and food distribution. The acquisition of two motorbikes enabled the team, composed of a coordinator, a member of the Fraternity of the Holy Cross and All Saints (FHCS), three catechists and three volunteers, to move between schools efficiently.

2.Awareness Raising and School Organisation
Meetings were held in the 11 selected schools to inform and coordinate with teachers, principals and parents. This effort succeeded in involving the educational community in the development of the activities. Participating schools included Kilulu Primary School, Ziwani Primary School, Mulunguni Primary School, among others.

3. Human and Christian Formation Programme
The programme ran for six months, with visits to schools 2-3 times a week. The evangelisation agents gave talks on human values, Christian faith, education and social coexistence, using interactive materials such as books, posters and videos. In addition, on some occasions, supplementary food was provided to the students. Sessions were also offered for parents, encouraging their commitment to education and family values.

4. Project monitoring
Monthly visits to schools and meetings with principals, teachers and parents’ councils were carried out to evaluate progress. In parallel, the evangelisation team regularly reviewed the results and adjusted the activities to improve their impact.

Results:

The project has had a very positive impact on the 4,500 children and youth benefited in 11 schools, strengthening their formation in character, values and Catholic faith. The response from students, parents and teachers has been one of gratitude, recognising the importance of this initiative in both the personal and spiritual development of the participants.

Although the process of change is gradual and requires follow-up, the activities carried out have laid the foundations for a more dignified society, with solid values and hope for the future. In addition, the project has had a positive impact on the wider community, including the catechists and volunteers, who have grown in experience and faith.
